In Fiscal Year 2000, 78% of committed youth had an educational disability; compared to 15% of 6-17 year olds in New Hampshire's general population.


A 1997 report on youth detention in New Hampshire indicates 69% of youth detained at the Youth Detention Center (YDC) committed only minor/misdemeanor offenses.
85% of committed youth were males; 15% females.


Over 95% of committed youth in YDC have documented histories of substance abuse.


8% of youth at YDC had been committed for a second time during Fiscal Year 2000.
