The Youth Advocacy Project, a multidisciplinary initiative of the public defender’s office that combines legal, clinical, and community outreach services for court-involved youth in the courts and the community, is seeking a full-time social worker.
Responsibilities: Will provide social service support as part of a legal team employing the Youth Development Approach to representation. Duties may include: conducting needs/strengths assessments of court-involved youth and young adults; compiling historical information through interviewing and records gathering; preparing comprehensive psychosocial histories; creating service plans and alternative sentencing plans; accessing and utilizing community resources; advocating for youth in a variety of systems, including DYS, DSS, school, and courts; coordinating efforts with other YAP components (legal, community outreach and psychology); and supervising graduate students of social work.
Requirements: Strong candidates will have experience working with urban youth, familiarity with systems that impact young people, and experience using the Youth Development Approach to promote healthy youth development. Must be a self-motivated team player and highly committed to helping children and families in crisis. LCSW or LICSW preferred.
Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
